Set-up Fast Stone
You only have to do this once - Software will remember your settings.
1. Select Output format as JPEG (.jpg)
2. Setup Advanced Settings
select the options as shown
Resize Settings
Canvas Settings
3. Select an Output Location (Where your images get sent after they are resized)
You just want the output location to be somewhere easy to find - of course you can change the output location at any time. It doesn't make a great deal of difference as long as you can find the images.
Would look something like this by now
** Output Format set to JPG
** Advanced options Enabled and Selected
** Output folder set up
Resize Images
Drag as many images as you want into the Input List and Convert them. (We'll usually do 100's & 1000's at once and it saves a tonne of time)
This will use your settings to resize the image & spit it out in the specified output folder.
Your images will appear in your folder
Advanced FastStone Guide
Adjust Quality & Photometric
Open the image settings
Adjust the slider to raise or lower jpg quality
Select the Photometric option
This lets you change the Photometric - We will usually just use RGB.
Sometimes this is relevant when Converting PNGs to JPGs
Batch Rename
FastStone is also a Batch Renaming Tool.
Lets you run Find and Replace commands to rename a bunch of images.
We will usually use this to remove blank spaces from image names without having to check 1000's of names.
Save and Load Advanced Settings
If you do a few different jobs with FastStone resizer you can save a file which will contain those settings.
Files can be saved & loaded quickly to load up whatever settings you need for the job you are working on.
